Habitat connectivity, in the form of large cores of intact habitat and corridors connecting them, is critical to ensuring a sustainable future for Virginia.  Wild Virginia has been leading the way, bringing people together to improve habitat connectivity in the state. We are a driving force behind the multidisciplinary, multi-agency group called the Virginia Safe Wildlife Corridors Collaborative (VSWCC). This group works to reduce habitat fragmentation issues caused by Virginia roads and improve habitat connectivity throughout the Commonwealth. Learn more about our efforts here.

In 2021, Wild Virginia worked to pass SB1274 that builds on the Wildlife Corridor Action Plan and makes it even stronger.

Tell our state and federal legislators that you support this work and hope to see more projects in Virginia that support wildlife corridors to protect public health, reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions, allow wildlife to move to more suitable habitats, and make our state more resilient in the face of a changing climate.
