Friend, You have one last chance to let the Virginia Air Pollution Control Board hear your voice. Tell them you oppose Dominion's proposal to place its huge, dangerous compressor station for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline in the Union Hill community of Buckingham County. Join your friends, neighbors, and prominent national figures who have spoken out against this clear violation of environmental justice. Among those opposing this threat are: Vice President Al Gore, Karenna Gore, Bill McKibben, Dr. Robert Bullard, Rev. William Barber, Mustafa Santiago Ali, Ed Asner, Don Cheadle, Chelsea Handler and many others. Key Points for Comments: * The DEQ did not do a proper site suitability analysis, as explained in the letter from the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) dated December 7, 2018. This failure violates state law and requires rejection of the draft permit. * The ACP Buckingham Compressor Station Environmental Justice Review, dated November 28, 2018, uses invalid census data to characterize the affected population and dependence on that analysis would be arbitrary and capricious. * The only valid assessment of environmental justice factors in the legal record is the Union Hill Community Household Study Site and Methods Report. If the Board fails to properly respect this information, its action will be invalid. -Your Friends at Wild Virginia |
